Programme Structure and Duration
Duration
SLMP is a 160-hour programme that takes place over a period of 7 months. The inaugural Intake 1 was conducted in Nov 2021. This programme typically runs once a year and the timing of the runs is dependent on the needs of the polytechnic sector. There are 4 intakes to date with Intake 4 held from Oct 2025 to May 2026.
Structure of SLMP
SLMP starts with a five-day onboarding programme where emerging school leaders from the five polytechnics will delve into concepts of educational change, teaching and learning (T&L) quality and T&L culture. The onboarding programme is designed to inspire, challenge, intrigue, and encourage them through the varied experiences such as
Fireside Chats with PCEOs;
Workshops on Educational Change, Quality & Culture;
Panel Discussions with external and internal guests; and
Learning Journeys
These experiences have been designed to build upon each other, and to enable new School Leaders to reflect upon their T&L leadership journey. They provide the School Leaders with frameworks and toolkits, which the School Leaders can make use of in the course of their T&L leadership work.
With the intent to make the SLMP unique, experiential and beyond conventional, sit-down workshops, a significant proportion of the SLMP anchors on the 7-month long practicum. The new School Leaders are to work on T&L projects (driven by or aligned to their respective institution’s and school’s directives) that they need to lead/ undertake in their workplace, which are aligned to the broad T&L themes defined by the polytechnic sector.
