Welcome to the Frontier Series for Educators.

The Frontier Series for Educators is a repertoire of professional development sessions organised by the Joint Polytechnic Academy for Educators (JP-AcE) for polytechnic educators. The Frontier Series aims to inspire lifelong learning, support reflective T&L practices, expand T&L capabilities and empower educators to be future-ready by exploring new educational trends and innovative ways of teaching and learning.

The Frontier Series has two key learning tracks currently. They are:

Upcoming Professional Development Events

1. Webinar: Embedding and Facilitating Student Mental Wellbeing in Curriculum

The webinar will introduce staff to ways in which they can engage with the Universal Design Framework (https://udlguidelines.cast.org/) and will provide authentic and practical strategies for embedding mental wellbeing in the design of curriculum. The session will incorporate some presentation of materials and some activities to guide educators towards the creation of an action plan that promotes student mental wellbeing in curriculum.

2. Webinar: Escaping to Learn: Escape Rooms as Applied Learning Adventures

Join us for an immersive and interactive webinar where the webinar itself becomes an escape room! The webinar is designed to showcase the pedagogical power of escape rooms in polytechnic education.

The Escape Room Pedagogical Experience: Participants will enter a virtual escape room-inspired environment to solve puzzles and challenges that reveal key principles behind escape room pedagogy. Uncover how this approach fosters active learning, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Polytechnic Escape Rooms Showcase: Hear from experienced colleagues who have expertly implemented escape rooms in their polytechnics. They will give you an insider’s view of their escape rooms and insights into the purpose, design, learning outcomes, and student engagement.
